Dear Mothers to Daughters Community,
In this special Thanksgiving edition, I’m delighted to introduce myself. My name is Lan Nguyen. I am a digital communication and marketing professional and also a mother to a curious two-year-old toddler. I’m originally from Vietnam, moved to France to study and launch my career, and relocated to New York City a little over a year ago.
With over five years of experience, my work focuses on strengthening employee engagement, increasing brand visibility, and creating impactful digital content. I find the vision and values of Mothers to Daughters truly meaningful empowering young women and shaping their future through relationships that transcend generations, cultures, and communities. While I continue to build the next step of my career, I am excited to contribute my skills to support and elevate Mothers to Daughters’ visibility across different platforms.
Thank you, Francine, for giving me the opportunity to be part of this inspiring community.

Millennials Are Officially The Majority Of Managers
Millennials have officially become the largest group of managers in the U.S., bringing a leadership style built on empathy, mental-health awareness, and flexible work. But this shift comes with growing pressure: mentions of burnout in employee reviews have surged, and many millennial managers struggle with blurred boundaries as they try to be both supportive “cool bosses” and authoritative leaders. Many also juggle demanding personal lives raising young children while caring for aging parents while navigating understaffed teams and constant organisational change.
At the same time, a large number of these managers never received formal leadership training, creating a gap between what modern workplaces expect and the support managers actually get. Companies now face a critical moment: if they don’t provide clear structures, training, and boundaries for this generation of leaders, they risk a widespread “manager crash,” where empathy-driven managers burn out faster than organisations can replace them.

Iliana Mejia
My name is Iliana Mejia and I am 21 years old. I am currently in my last year of my undergraduate degree at Marymount Manhattan college, where I am studying politics and human rights / International Studies. After graduating, I am hoping to find work in the field of Youth advocacy and policy development. My primary research relates to the field of Education for women and girls in crisis affected areas as well as persons with disabilities.
Throughout my life, I have worked in a variety of different sectors including corporate, City government, ngos, and small businesses. During my work, I am grateful to have worked alongside many strong and capable women who have been mentors to me at various stages of my life. journey. They have taught me the importance that comes with intergenerational dialogue. I think it is important for young women and girls to find a community of other women who are able to both uplift their voices, while also providing them with guidance along the way.
I feel that the work Mothers and Daughters is doing creates meaningful and long-lasting change in the lives of young women and girls, and I would be grateful to be part of the team that assists in creating these opportunities.
