Generations in Motion: Where Connection Becomes Growth

Dear Mothers to Daughters Community,
My name is Lan Nguyen, the digital marketing and social media Specialist at Mothers To Daughters. In this first edition of 2026, we celebrate connection, growth, and collective impact. From the relaunch of Date with Daughters to our Legacy Walk Fashion Show and new partnerships, this year begins with purpose. We invite you to share your voice through our community survey, join the M2D membership to access exclusive experiences, and step forward as a mentor or mentee to help shape the next generation of women leaders. We also explore scaling purpose-driven initiatives, the rise of women’s sports as community spaces, and evolving conversations around Gen Z leadership. Together, these stories reflect our mission: building legacy, empowerment, and belonging across generations.

Date with Daughters: An Intimate Evening of Mentorship and Momentum

Date with Daughters is a signature community engagement experience by Mothers to Daughters, designed to engage Millennials and Gen Z women (ages 18–39) through culturally relevant, relationship-driven gatherings that meet women where they are in life and career.
Through curated dinners, brunches, and intimate experiences, we create high-trust spaces for intergenerational dialogue, mentorship, and access to opportunity built on authenticity and meaningful connection, not transactional networking.
The initiative supports:

  • Aspiring entrepreneurs with little to no business experience
  • Women in business seeking growth, visibility, and scale
  • Women pivoting industries to step into new roles or leadership

Rooted in Mothers to Daughters’ mission to support the launch and growth of 100,000 women entrepreneurs globally, Date with Daughters expands mentorship and ecosystem access across industries while prioritizing pathways in sports, blockchain, energy, robotics, and tech.
By blending mentorship with culturally relevant experiences, Date with Daughters turns connection into outcomes building confidence, expanding networks, and helping the next generation create sustainable careers, businesses, and legacies.

M2D X Kibonen Partnership : Connection Together Beyond the Runway

Designer Kibonen has launched the Mafo Dress Tour, a series of intimate, fashion-focused brunch gatherings that bring women together to connect beyond traditional runway shows. At each event, attendees wear the Mafo dress, interpreting it in their own styles, fostering community and conversation. The concept began organically when friends attended wearing the garment and quickly expanded as others joined in. Inspired by Cameroonian fabric heritage and designed for versatility, the dress symbolizes inclusivity and belonging. In 2026 the tour will travel across U.S. cities and internationally, partnering with charity Mothers To Daughters to support women’s empowerment.

Why Your Gen Z Workers Need Tough Love

This article argues that Gen Z workers need “tough love” leadership rather than special accommodations, advocating for rigor, high expectations, and excellence as essential to effective mentorship and organizational success. The author disagrees with views that younger workers require gentler management due to their “sensibilities” and contends that standards shouldn’t be lowered for any generation. Using examples from sports teams and other high-performance environments, the piece suggests that demanding excellence teaches discipline and strengthens both individuals and missions. It emphasizes that nonprofit leadership should hold young staff to the same standards as any skilled profession.

Women's sports bars expected to quadruple across the U.S. in 2025

Women’s sports bars are rapidly emerging across the United States, creating inclusive, community-driven spaces dedicated to celebrating women’s athletics. What began as a small number of niche venues has grown into a national movement, with the total expected to quadruple in 2025. These bars prioritize broadcasting women’s sporting events, from basketball to soccer, while fostering environments where fans feel represented and welcomed. Many are founded by women and LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs who saw a gap in traditional sports culture. Fueled by rising viewership and investment in women’s sports, these venues symbolize a broader cultural shift toward visibility, equity, and shared connection beyond the game itself.
